New England's First & Only Continuous Geocaching MEGA Event!
Berkshire Geobash, 1515 South State Road, Cheshire, MA 01225 ~ 413.441.5648
In 2012 a group of geocachers from western Massachusetts and upstate New York put a challenge out to the world of geocachers, asking for their help to make the Berkshire Geobash a MEGA event. On July 7, 2012 that dream became a reality and the Berkshire Geobash became the first, and only continuous, MEGA event in New England! Over 600 geocachers from around the world, including the continental USA, Canada, Hawaii, Germany, and the Netherlands came together that day at Bousquet Mountain in the heart of the Berkshires! Since then, we have had cachers from England, France, Denmark, Alaska, and New Zealand who have come to enjoy the great geocaching the Berkshires has to offer. For the next 6 years the Planning Committee worked diligently to provide a high quality experience for all those geocachers who chose to attend this awesome event. Many geocachers traveled long distances to attend the Berkshire Geobash. Our team planned 9 – 10 days of geocaching events and activities to make sure geocachers got to experience the best of the Berkshires. From “Meet & Greets,” picnics, dinners, lab caches, hikes, kayaking/canoeing, an FTF Frenzy contest, and more, cachers experienced the entire county and some of the most amazing places!
Year three came upon us so quickly! A dynamite planning team, great ideas and energy went into planning to host our biggest and best Berkshire Geobash yet! Including the MEGA event on Saturday, July 19, 2014, over the course of 9 days the Berkshire Geobash committee and friends of the committee hosted and enjoyed a total of 21 events and activities! Events were held in MA, NY, and this year we expanded into VT! Official count this year - 1,083 attendees from all over the world!
Our second year was full of excitement as we knew we had to create an event that was just as outstanding as the first was. Geocachers all over the world were talking about the Berkshire Geobash and we had to live up to their expectations. The week, although it didn't get any longer, got a lot busier with 16 satellite events and a MEGA!
The original planners came from all walks of life and shared many of their personal dreams, ideas, and talents that they have developed over the course of their life experiences. Each volunteered hundreds of hours over 9 months of planning to ensure that the Berkshire Geobash would be an awesome experience that would bring cachers from all over the world to enjoy time together and create wonderful memories while enjoying the Berkshires.
